Nikkei set for 6.8% weekly surge

TOKYO, 10th April, 2026 (WAM) — Japan’s Nikkei index rose today and is on track to record its biggest weekly gain in eight months, driven by optimism over corporate earnings and investment in the technology sector.

The Nikkei increased by 1.65 percent to 56,817.54 points, heading towards a weekly surge of 6.8 percent, which would be the highest since mid-August last year.

The broader Topix index edged up by 0.05 percent to 3,743.17 points.
